Ocd And Its Effects
People with obsessive compulsive disorder or OCD suffer from the obsessive thoughts which in the long run develop into compulsions. These compulsions are translated into OCD rituals which the sufferers will feel obliged to do, otherwise, some perceive harms will happen. While the harms may not be rational, a person with OCD lacks the capability to identify which thoughts and which consequences to these thoughts are really bound to happen from a logical perspective. For example, a person with OCD to cleanliness, a germophobe, will never see the fact that touching a door knob which is publicly held and used will not bring him or her deadly diseases. This is extremely difficult for these people to understand since their brains already have this preconditioned mind-set of what is believed to happen. According to experts this irrationality is due to a biochemical imbalance of the neurotransmitters in the brain, which of course affects how the brain interprets information.
